Knicks Lose Tyson Chandler to Injury, Out 4-6 weeks

Charlotte Bobcats v New York Knicks

New York-

During the Charlotte Bobcat loss, the Knicks lost more than the game. They lost their center Tyson Chandler, which is a tremendous loss for the struggling Knicks. A collision with Bobcats Kemba Walker was play the where Chandler got injured.

The results of Chandler’s injury is small non-displaced fracture of his right fibula and he is expected to miss four to six weeks. Chandler did not suffer any ligament or nerve damage and will not need surgery.

Chandler is one of the most important Knicks on the team. Chandler provides rebounds, defense and rim protection. Chandler is a leader and centers are rare and hard to replace.

The Knicks have been platoon rotation with Kenyon Martin and Amre Stoudemire. The reason is to keep them healthy for the whole season. They both have been on a minutes restriction. Stoudemire is being brought along slowly due to knee issues.

The Knicks new starting line up could consist of center Andrea Bargnani, power forward Carmelo Anthony, shooting guard Iman Shumpert, dual point guards Raymond Felton and Pablo Prigioni.

The void without Chandler could last a 20 games span. Last year the Knicks went 16 games without Chandler and were 12-4.
