The New York Jets came to terms with Chris Johnson on a 2-year deal today. With the agreement, the New York Jets have added speed to their running back unit. A team that has lacked weapons on offense just upgraded with the top free agent running back.
According to ESPN Stats and Info, Chris Johnson is the only player in the NFL with at least 1,000 rushing yards in each of the last 6 seasons.
Some experts claim Johnson’s play has diminished. One thing to point out is that Johnson’s speed and home run ability still commands attention from NFL defenses. He can catch the ball and create big gains via screens plays.
According to Pro Football Focus:
Johnson’s rookie season consisted of 1200 yards, and his production was built around explosive plays. Then in 2009, he had a 2000 season and his nickname of CJ2K was born. In 2013, Johnson had a lot of breakaway runs, with 271 yards averaging 19.4 per run on those plays runs.
Jets fans, let the Chris Johnson and Chris Ivory combo begin.
