According to Nj.com, Jets head coach Rex Ryan said on Wednesday he still hasn’t heard from troubled running back Mike Goodson, who has not shown for any of the team’s organized team actvivites, which conclude on Thursday. Wednesday was the ninth of the Jet’s ten OTA sessions, which began two weeks ago. OTA’s are voluntary workouts, so Goodson is not required to attend. That said, Ryan does expect Goodson to take part in next week’s mandatory minicamp, which runs from Tuesday through June 19.
“Yeah, I mean, it’s a mandatory thing,” Ryan said.” So I would definitely expect him to be there.”
Goodson also still faces weapons possession chargers in Morris county. No matter how his legal situation shakes out, Goodson faces an uphill battle to make the roster. He’s coming off surgery for a torn ACL, but the Jets this offseason also bolstered a backfield that already included Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell by adding Chris Johnson and Daryl Richardson, formerly of the Titans and Rams, respectively.
Goodson was scheduled for another court hearing on Thursday, but that hearing has been delayed again, this time until June 26, according to a prosecutor. The hearing had initially been scheduled for May 19.
