Training camp practice 8 was a good day for the offense.Receivers made plays in team drills.Offense finally having a good day.Stephen Hill had the most stand out performance.
Saturday night at 7pm the Jets have their scrimmage.The green and white scrimmage in Cortland,New York.The competition through and through will be on display for the fans.
Calvin Pryor and Shaq Evans wearing a red non-contact practice jersey.Evans has a new shoulder injury.
Players who didn’t finish practice:
Jeremy Reeves (hamstring) and during practice Kenrick Ellis tweaked a knee.
Players in rehab area: Johnny Patrick (hamstring), Brandon Hardin (foot), Quincy Enunwa (hip), Alex Green (chest), Zach Thompson (shoulder), Antwan Barnes (leg),Eric Decker (hamstring),Calvin Pryor (concussion),Dexter McDougle (groin) and Bilal Powell (hamstring).
Geno Smith connects with Stephen Hill on a 60-yard touchdown.Hill knee seems to be recharged,he blew by Dee Milliner.The Pass was perfect Hill hauled it in stride.
Mike Vick deliver a pass to Jacoby Ford for 65-yard touchdown.
Jeremy Kerley engineered a great practice.He makes it look too easy.At the end of the day Kerley might be the hardest guy on the Jets to cover.Kerley runs great routes and had great red zone catch.
The Jets announced that they released safety Brandon Hardin, who had been dealing with a foot injury.
The Jets sign running back Michael Smith.He was a seventh-round draft pick by Tampa Bay out of Utah State in 2012. Smith is 5-9 and 205 pounds.
Smith only played one game in 2012.He has no NFL carries,but has three kickoff returns for 55 yards.Smith had season-ending injured reserve with a torn foot ligament. Tampa Bay released him in May.

Smith is an undersized burner out of Utah State. The Buccaneers cut him in May. Smith will likely be a practice body until the Jets make final cuts.
Why Add Another Running Back?
The Jets needed to add running backs to keep their featured running backs fresh for the season.Jets are dealing with some injuries with the running backs.Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson are on a pitch count to keep them fresh.Bilal Powell has missed four straight practices with a hamstring injury.Alex Green has been dealing with a chest injury. Daryl Richardson, has been healthy in camp, after recovering from a turf toe injury from last season
Geno Smith hit Jeremy Kerley in the red zone,a pass thrown while Kerley was covered. Smith had to throw it high so Kerley could get it in the end zone.Smith read the defense check down his options and threw a perfect deep ball for Hill.
Mike Vick had tremendous practice as well.Vick had perfect deep ball for a touchdown to Jacoby Ford.
Practice Stats: Smith: 4-for-9 with an interception on team drills. First team reps: 87.5 percent snaps (14 snaps).
Vick: 2-for-6 on team drills. First team reps: 12.5 percent snaps (2 snaps).

“As many reps as you can get will help out and I’m a living testament to that. I can just see the growth in myself and in the guys around me due to that, due to us just continuing to work hard during the offseason, during the OTA’s and minicamps. Now we’re in camp and guys have continued to keep that same mentality.”
Stephen Hill Is Flying Around Training Camp
Hill had a big day at practice and showed Dee Milliner during red zone drills,how fast he is when healthy.This is what Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg loves to see.Mornhinweg likes to take deep shots,to open up the defense.That would open up run game and short passes.
The Guard Position is Becoming a Battle
Oday Aboushi getting plenty of reps at left guard and he doing well. One of the biggest battles in camp is for the two guard spots.
