According to multiple league sources, and as reported directly via NFL.com, Josh Gordon has failed yet another drug test. And this time, it looks extremely unlikely that the former Baylor star will be able to avoid a full one-year suspension.
This latest obstruction violation of the league’s drug policy comes after a long line of failed tests that have caused the troubled star receiver to miss significant time. Last year, a full year’s suspension was reduced, allowing him to play five games.
His past with drugs (and specifically marijuana use) dates back to his days at Baylor University, where he was formally dismissed on a failed test.
Per NFL.com, he later told the Houston Chronicle: “It was against school policy, of course, and I was [suspended] in the summer. I’ve definitely put that part of my life behind me. I don’t plan to ever go back there. It was a difficult time, but I learned from it, and I’ve moved on.”
Clearly, he has not.
In his 2014 playing time, he posted 303 yards on 24 receptions. Gordon was also the league’s leading receiver in the 2013-2014 season. And yet, you have to wonder if this last offense will see the end of his career – a career that many thought was already in jeopardy following his last failed test.
