Evaluating Jets WR T.J. Graham

Height: 5’11
Weight: 188

Overview: T.J. Graham is a wide receiver from the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans who is now currently on the New York Jets. During his career he currently has 57 catches for 770 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Strengths: A speedster, that has good ability to spread the field. A great deep threat, who knows how to play deep. Decent ball skills who knows how to gain major yardage when he has the ball. Good athlete. Knows how to create separation from his defenders. Great body control. Versatile can also play on special teams.

Weaknesses: Not physical or strong. Route running could some work. Relies too much on his speed. Does not have the short area burst you want in a wide receiver.

How he fits the New York Jets: Currently the New York Jets have four locks at the wide receiver position with Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Jeremy Kerley, and Devin Smith which leaves at most two more spots open at the wide receiver position, Where does Graham fit? Graham offers speed and can contribute on special teams which works to his favor since the Jets could use more speed and more contributing talent on special teams. He also has a history of playing for Chan Gailey back when he was head coach of the Buffalo Bills however currently his biggest competition for a spot on the roster include Chris Owusu and DeVier Posey who as of now have been impressing the coaching staff with their speed and ball skills.

Bottom line: He has the blazing speed and upside to develop into a solid wide receiver in the near future. Right now, he’s best as a special teams player or a 5th wide receiver on an NFL roster.
