Per NFL.com, Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain the starting signal-caller for New York when Geno Smith returns.
“Ryan will get all the first-team reps,” head coach Todd Bowles said via ESPN.
Despite the fact that this is a new development, it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise. After Smith was punched in the jaw following a $600 dispute with former Jets player IK Enemkpali, there were reports of a divided locker room. It was obvious.
Fitzpatrick has effectively pulled the team together as a leader, something the Jets were in desperate need of. As a result, the team is 2-0 to start the season.
Fitzpatrick threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns in the Jets’ 20-7 win over the Colts on Monday night. He also has a 94.3 passer rating over the course of his first two starts.
