Jamal Marshall is a recent graduate of the University of North Texas. He is a great athlete who has the ability to play both linebacker and cornerback. One thing that stands out is his speed. He impressed during rookie mini camp and earned himself a spot to compete during OTAs.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Jamal, during which time he told me more about his background, and his overall love for football.
Christa: What would you say are your biggest strengths?
JM: Size and speed.
C: During your time at the University of North Texas, what was it like to make the transition from cornerback to linebacker, then having a second chance to play cornerback?
JM: I felt it gave me the opportunity to work on my physicality and raise my football I.Q.
C: When you received the call from the Seattle Seahawks, what were some thoughts that ran through your mind?
JM: First it was excitement then I heard tryout and my mindset went right back to I’ve still got a lot of work to do.
C: How did you feel about the competition and the process of rookie camp with so much riding on line to get a chance at OTAs?
JM: I didn’t really think that far ahead I just knew I needed to make a play with every given opportunity.
C: How did it feel to be one of the rookies to be chosen and added to the 90-man roster?
JM: I still feel the same way I did during the tryout… My goals are set much higher.
C: I read in an article that you looked up and studied film on Richard Sherman. What is it like to now be on the same team as Sherman?
JM: Well now I’m just learning how I can be better than him.
C: What are some goals you would like to achieve this season?
JM: Have a season.
C: What kind of player can Seahawks fans expect to see on the field? Do you have a message for Seahawks fans?
JM: COMPETITIVE!!!!! No it’s a little early, for that.
Locker Room Update would like to thank Jamal Marshall for taking the time to speak with us. We wish the best the best of luck as he competes for a shot on the Seattle Seahawks roster.
