Overview: Luke Hrapchak is a senior who played linebacker for California University of Pennsylvania. In 2016, he was one of the players who was selected to the D2CCA Second-Team All-Region. He was also one of the players named Football Gazette All-America Honorable Mention. Hrapchak was also named the PSAC Championship MVP after his outstanding performance of 15 tackles, 1 sack, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1 fumble recovery, 1 forced fumble and also had 2 pass break-ups against Kutztown. Additionally, he was one of the players named to California University of Pennsylvania’s Honor Roll List in Spring 2016. Hrapchak has a great football I.Q and displays a great work ethic.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Luke, during which time he told me more about his background, his personality and his overall love for football.
C: For the people who do not know your story, how did you wind up choosing California University of Pennsylvania?
LH: I chose Cal because of the all the success the program had achieved in the past. I knew it was a good foundation for me academically and athletically. I felt as though it would be a great place moving forward with my career.
C: How do you plan on making yourself stand out and noticed by NFL scouts?
LH: I plan on making myself standout out based off of my high football IQ. My work ethic and focus will also help me standout.
C: What would you say are your strengths and weaknesses?
LH: My strengths would be my high IQ, physicality ability to make plays and work ethic. Something I am always trying to get better at is my man to man defense and play recognition.
C: What separates you from the other players at your position?
LH: My high IQ, work-ethic and physicality.
C: Which current or former NFL player do you think you resemble and why?
LH: Luke Kuechly because of his playmaking ability and football IQ.
C: Who is the toughest player you’ve ever faced in your college career?
LH: Lenny Williams, great game manager and very hard to contain.
C: When did you first fall in love with playing football?
LH: I fell in love when I was 5 years old.
C: What is the most inspirational or powerful thing a coach has ever said to you in your college career?
LH: My defensive coordinator once told me if you can be better than yesterday everyday. Your potential has no limit, you will develop winning habits.
C: How do you prepare for game day? Do you have any game day rituals?
LH: Wake up and take a shower. Eat some eggs and fruit then head to the stadium.
C: What should people reading this interview know about you?
LH: I’m a very high IQ football player who has the ability to lead a defense and make plays.
