Overview: Julien Davenport is a senior who was an offensive lineman for Bucknell University. He has good footwork and great athleticism. He was one of the players who was invited to play in the Senior Bowl.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Julien, during which time he told me more about his background, his personality and his overall love for football.
C: For the people who do not know your story, how did you wind up choosing Bucknell University?
JD: When I stepped on Bucknell’s campus on my official visit, I felt that it was the place for me and committed on the spot.
C: How do you plan on making yourself stand out and noticed by NFL scouts?
JD: I plan exemplifying the toughness I possess and the heart and desire that is needed to fully excel in this sport.
C: What would you say are your strengths and weaknesses?
JD: Strengths: Athleticism, Football IQ / Weaknesses: I wouldn’t like to say I have any weaknesses but I know going to the next level I will have to work on perfecting my technique.
C: What separates you from the other players at your position?
JD: My athleticism, knowledge and love for the game.
C: Do you prefer run blocking or pass blocking?
JD: I really enjoy both, because they are both physically demanding and it’s fun to control your defender.
C: Which current or former NFL player do you think you resemble and why?
JD: Tyron Smith, I think our body types are similar and I have been watching his film closely to learn from him.
C: Who is the toughest player you’ve ever faced in your college career?
JD: Terrence Fede, an NFL prospect in my first game/start as a college football player freshman year in college.
C: How do you prepare for game day? Do you have any game day rituals?
JD: I have my headphones in and I am mentally visualizing my success on the field while preparing my body for competition through extra stretch and warmup.
C: What is the most inspirational or powerful thing a coach has ever said to you in your college career?
JD: Control what you can control and always remember to have fun playing the game.
C: What should people reading this interview know about you?
JD: I went to Bucknell University which is in Central Pennsylvania, because not many people know where it is.
